Field work

In 2022, I traveled to Mauritania to oversee the implementation of a couple-based intervention focused on promoting joint decision-making and gender equality. My visit had two main objectives: to gain a deeper understanding of couples' responses to the training and to monitor the facilitators' adherence to the curriculum.

In my research on domestic violence and child discipline, I conducted a study in December 2013, visiting several Hogares Comunitarios in Colombia, which are subsidized child care centers that have been operating since the early 1980s and are prominent in early childhood development services in the region. During my visit, I interviewed Madres Comunitarias and beneficiary mothers to gain insights into how these centers may contribute to reducing domestic violence in homes. Furthermore, in April 2013, I conducted exploratory interviews with rural women in the departments of Tolima and Cundinamarca to delve into the topic of domestic violence, understanding women's willingness to discuss the issue and identifying underlying factors that contribute to such violence. This research was part of a project focused on analyzing potential synergies between social programs and rural development projects.

From April to July 2012, I participated as the field coordinator of a program on agriculture technology adoption in northern Haiti. The program aimed at increasing farmers’ productivity and revenue by subsidizing farmers’ access to different crop packages through vouchers. The program is similar to the PATCA program in the Dominican Republic.

Over the summer of 2010 (June - August), I was part of the summer internship program at the Center for Microfinance (CMF-IFMR) in India. I participated as a research assistant in the program:  Integrating the Poorest into Microfinance: An Impact Evaluation in West Bengal. I was in charge of data cleaning of the first follow-up survey and supervision of data collection of the second follow-up survey.
